May 4, 2022 #5 Gentle reader, It's been WAY too long since I have written to you. To my surprise and delight, a lot more people have been reading this than last I checked.  I recently came across some photos of Nancy and her girls doing something unusual. I scanned them all and will use them in this chapter to illustrate the title's meaning. All were shot on film because consumer digital cameras were still a pipe dream at the time these were made. Two types of cameras were used. This is a climbing wall, which was once a feature of our local Galyans Trading Company. I don't recall the exact height because this was back in the late 1990's. Nancy brought her two girls into our marriage, Jessica and Rebecca. Both are in their thirties now. But, they were eight and nine when we wed. Bekka is closest in this picture and higher up.  Perspective is everything. The employee on the right side, above, shows they were not far from the floor at this point. Even though Bekka is young

October 17, 2019 #5 Gentle reader, It's been a while since I wrote to you. Not that I've been super busy, I was wondering what to write about next. Here are links to the previous articles: Have You Met Your Soulmate? I Have. Let Me Show You Nancy. As Our Relationship Progressed. Finding Balance and Trust. Relationship Grows and How To Complement Someone. The Best Way Verses The Usual Way.   So You Are In A New Relationship. How Do You Stay In It? But first, as always, pictures of Nancy, the love of my life. One of the things about her that caught my eye from the beginning was her long dark hair. Above, we'd driven up into the mountains of Virginia and she'd climbed up on some rocks. Looks like she was satisfied with her perch. There are SO many cool things about her that I like and am grateful for. She doesn't hesitate to do or try things, something I have struggled with my entire life. So, scrambling up a tree, just for fun? Not ma

August 2, 2019 #3 Gentle reader, I freely admit that I am not an expert on anything. I think that word, and "hero" are too freely used. However, I have been in a number of relationships and two marriages. So I have learned a thing or two. Both good and bad. I link all previous chapters here in chronological order so that if you just came across this page, you can get caught up.  Have You Met Your Soulmate? I Have. Let Me Show You Nancy.   As Our Relationship Progressed. Finding Balance and Trust.    Relationship Grows and How To Complement Someone. The Best Way Verses The Usual Way. But first, some pictures of Nancy! Taken on our honeymoon in the Bahamas in 1996. A female flight attendant on the way down told us to look around and guess how many women would come back with their hair braided. As you can see, it had begun. By the end of the week, all her hair was braided. Geez, I wish I'd used the dust removal program with my scanne

July  28, 2019 #3 Gentle reader, I start each chapter with links to the previous ones so that you may get caught up. Here they are in chronological order: Have You Met Your Soulmate? I Have. Let Me Show You Nancy.    As Our Relationship Progressed. Finding Balance and Trust. To avoid confusion, I start each chapter with pictures of Nancy over the years and tell you how our relationship progressed. Interspersed with pictures. Then, I change tack and talk about how I have learned about relationships and dating and things like that. OK? One thing Nancy and I had to do was gradually introduce our respective kids to each of us and to each other. The photo above was from a visit to a large outdoor playground in Maryland. Nancy was cautious as she should have been. Yes, I'd been a gentleman so far, but how much did we really know about each other? Another tree-hugger photo of her and one of my favorites. I had not yet learned about technical things like fil
